STEAMER SINKS TUG . Five « Ore-w of Iaxtter Drowned iu Result of a Collision In Delaware- Hl-ve-r . Philadelphia , March 21 . —Five men of the crew of the tug Pilot , of thia city , were drowned in a collision between the . tug and the steamship-Vini-fred . in the Delaware river , oit Marcus Hook , Pa ., late Friday night . The remaining three members of the crew were saved . The following were drowned : Alonzo Hazard , engineer ; John Bennett , mate ; Frank Atkinson , steward- ; Albert Painter , deckhand ; Portuguese fireman , name unknown . , The Winifred was toifiag the barge Conemaugh from Port ^ Arthur , Tex ., to this city and became fogbound in • the Delaware bay on Thursday . WEATHER HALTS WORK . Illinois Athletes Had a Quiet Day Monday . Showing of Track Team Against Chicago Is Pleasing—Stagg Praises Treatment Here . The weather yesterday gave a momentary halt to athletic work at the University . Coach Huff s baseball men were not outdoors and did little work . The track men did not work much , Conibear allowing them to rest after the meet with Chicago Saturday night . Trainer Conibear was severely ill last week , and although he went to the meet , was unable to stir from his chair . DEATH OF MRS . BENNETT Urbana Residen ; Passess Away at the Burnham Hospital . Had Been III for Only a Short Time But Could Not Rally io Permit an OperationFuneral Today . Mrs . Maggie Bennett , wife of James W . Bennett of 1102 West Stoughton street , died Monday morning at 2 o clock , at the Burnham hospital , after a very brief illness . Inflammation of the bowels was the cause of her death . She was taken ill last Wednesday and from the outset her condition was considered critical . On Sunday morning she was admitted to the hospital for an operation , but never rallied sufficiently to undergo the ordeal ; Maggie Doney was born in Fairmount in October , 1870 , and was united in marriage to James Bennett on September 22 , 1 SS 7 .
