Sle mm totttf. SOt,. 30LLEB, Editor. TROT, KANSAS: Thursday, : : : : : July 10, 1879. Kansas. Tli e census returns of the present year, so far as received from Kansas Counties, foot up over 700,000 population. Tbe Counties not jet in, and the population of unorganized Counties, will placellie number orer 800,000. These are the returns of the Township assessors, and it is known that the census taken in this way, in connection with the assessment and the col lec tion of agricultural statistics, is very imperfect and inaccurate. The real popnlation is much greater tbau these figures will show. Next year, the regular United States ceusus will be taken, by thoroughly competent men appointed for that purpose, who will hare that work to do, and that only. Uuder this thorough system, and with the large additions that will be made to the popnlation between now and then, there is no doubt that the population of Kansas will reach considerably over one million, entitling the State to not less t...
