Arizona Sentinel. SATURDAY, - - - MAY 4, 1ST?. Judge Porter for Congress. DeForest Porter has been an active citizen of Arizona for seven years. What proportion of Ari zonans has been here longer? During- those seven years he has sat upon the bench, and is to-day as poor a man as when he first came here. This fact places his judicial integrity above suspicion, and frustrates slander. For years, prior to his coming- to Arizona, he had been a member of legislative bodies, and thoroughly conversant with parliamentary methods. His personal acquaintance with prom inent members of Congress is ex tensive and intimate. He has been an active factor in Arizona's development, and a close observer of her necessities. He is well qualified to devise such Congres sional legislation, and to secure ! such appropriations as this Terri tory now needs, and as have been freely accorded to other Territo ries during the past four years. Arizona has entered upon a new era. We no longer demand a Del egate w...

Tn view of the magnitude of the evils complained of, and of the apparent uilheultv of securing their correction, our readers will forgive our devoting so much space to this subject, and to the following correspondence. Our present Delegate has evidently been unable to secure the relict demanded. It is too long to wait until our next Delegate takes his seat iu 3Earch, 1S70. 1 1 1 mini im1 mn-umfaLam-jjawjm Arizona Sentinel. SATURDAY, - MAY 18, 1S78. Hitter, but "Wholesome. All our growls and complaints about railroad freights are like a convalescent child's murmurs against the nasty taste of the physic that cures him. Even aft er the country became tolerably safe against Indians, it was com paratively at a stand-still, until the railroad reached us and pre cipitated the flood of prosperity upon which we are beginning to float. More machinery has come here by rail during the past nine months, than had come dur ing the previous nine years by wagon or steamboat. More pas sengers come daily by rail, than used to cross the desert on buck boards in a month. To the rail road we owe increase of popula tion and increase of exports; from it we shall derive benefits that will make present results seem insignificant. Overcharge us on freight? Of course it does every dollar that it can get. That's busi ness. If we sometimes get even by shipping giant powder and oth...

Arizona Sentinel. SATURDAY, - - - - JfA T 25, 1S7S. Bound to Destroy Himself. Poor Woolsey! He has gone mad on polities. Heretofore ho has always been able to avail him self of the sreneral unwillingness of decent men to be elected to our Legislatures, to slip into our Capi tol as a member of one or the oth er brilliant bodies that fritter away alternate winters in lying to each other and. granting divorces. This gave him prominence; it afforded a pretext for prefixing "Hon." to his name, and ringing a change on the now equally common prefix of "Col." New-comers into the Territory have gazed upon him, wondered why ho has so often eat in legislatures, and for what purpose, ignorant that only such men can be coaxed to serve. Shak ing thtfr heads these pilgrims re mark: "There must be an im mense amount of talent inside of Hon. Col. Woolsey: none ap pears on his outside." These new men don't know him as well as we old-timers do; we, too, think there must be much talent inside of him, f...
