Kendrick, the Califor nia collector of archaeological and other curiosities, -who was for many months in the distant island of Hawaii in the Sandwich group, says that one thing in the Sandwich Islands attracted his at tention and made a lasting impression upon him. That was the great num- kber of animals gone wild, says the San Jbran Cisco Examiner. These were taken there soon after -Navigator Cook's discovery. Some wandered away, and now there are ini mense bands. They comprise wild cat tle, wild dogs, and wild hogs. First of .all you want to learn not to stay too long, says a writer in the Ladies' Home Journal. There is such a thing, you know, as wearing one's welcome out, and you certainly do not wish to do that. Then, having discov ered exactly the hours at which the meals are served, you should be on time, and if breakfast is at 7.30, and you have always had it at 9, you must still get up when the call-bell rings and be downstairs at 7.30, looking bright and hungry; and, above all other things, you must not mention that you have been in the habit of breakfasting at a later hour. If you have friends in the same place and they should come to see you, and we will put it that way have forgotten to ask for your hostess, suggest to them that you will go and ask her if she would not like to meet them.
