2000 attend free concert at East LA Two thousand music fans came to Ingalls Auditorium on the East Los Angeles College campus Tuesday night to bear the Orquesta Slnfonica del Estado de Mexico (The Mexican State Symphony Orchestra). It was the Orquesta’s first appearance in the United States in many years and the opening concert in a tour of this country which will take them to some of the major cities like Dallas, Detroit, and Minneapolis. The ELAC concert was co-sponsored by the City of Los Angeles and the college. During intermission, Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley presented the keys to his dty to Conductor Enrique Batiz. In turn, the Mayor of Toluca, Mexico, presented Orquesta scrolls to Mayor Bradley, ELAC President Arthur Avila, and Gonzalo Molina, a local adult school instructor who served as liaison for the concert.

They increase your electric bill, too. To meet air quality standards. Edison is required to burn low-sulfur foreign oil. This low-sulfur oil commands a premium price. Edison expects to buy more than 44 million barrels of this oil to keep its generating plants running in 1980, at a cost of about 51.5 billion. Back in 1970 oil cost about S2 a barrel and our oil bill was 529 million. Already this year Edison has paid more than 532 a barrel for premium grade, ultra low-sulfur oil. And we're told there will be more increases in the months ahead. When OPEC prices go up, Edison prices go up. Your electric bill could go up 50% by the end of this year.
