' The Ulawarra Railway to Ulawarra,' was for some years the watch-word of the ?Wol- longong people. Every public man of any energy in the place, sot his shoulder to the wheel, and turned a deaf ear to nil protests against it, whether these came from an irre pressible Parliamentary scavenger or from a tergiversating ex-Premier. Still our neigh bours continued to agitate. They had sharp electioneering contests — not a few — during the .time the railway campaign was being fought ; but whenever the railway question was at stake, whenever the watchword was sounded, they were as one man.
