The Society Debutante. [Newspaper Article] — Jerilderie Herald and Urana Advertiser — 4 November 1898

II* o Society Debutante. When a young girl first enters society her immediate sensations nre those of attain ment, triumph, and elation. In the first flush of her social career her imagination opens for her a long vista of pleasures, whose brightness is unsullied by the slightest shadow of care. Soon, though, the novelty commences to wear off, and she finds that tar rrom being a Hie ot unalloyed pleasure, society, like everything else, has its draw backs. The health must be kept up, or one becomes a back number. For work of this kind there is no remedy on the market equal to Bile Beans. Keeping the entire system in a thorough state of cleanliness, free from all waste and impure matter, toning up the the nervous organism, purifying the blood and keeping the female organs in regular and thorough working order, they achieve what no other medicine can do, i.e., a com plete mastery over all derangements of the body arising from over-indulgence of any sort. Wheat Prosjiiccts in tho IBivcfiitin. Reports from the various wheat growing centres in Riverina are to tho effect that ? the crops from AUmry to Culeairn are very good. Beyond Culeairn the prospects aro most discouraging. Henty, Yerong Creek, Lockhart, Berrigan, and Finley will have liareuy any yield. Kerrigan aimers severely. Momalong, with 7000 acres under crop, does not expect a single bag. Mr.- Batten, of i Bcrrignn, has 650 acres, and does not expect i tho return of the seed. Mr. John Blair, of Finley, has 3000 acres under, crop, arid does not expect S00 bags. Mr. W. Blair, of the J same place, has 2000 acres, and does not ex pect more than seed. Hundreds of failures similar to those enumerate! could bo given. The crops on Bull Plain, Clear Hills, Days dale, and Wangamong are all bad. National dranancs. THE ENGLISH PROPOSAL. Tne question of how the British peoplo are to be fed in the event of a serious out break of war has been engaging a great deal of attention for Bome time, and the proposal to establish national wheat stores is steadily gaining in favour. Various schemes have been propounded, but that suggested by Air. V. Walbran Chapman seems to be finding most favour. Mr. Chapman suggests that the Government should Tent 40 stores or granaries in different parts of the country the aggregate storage capacity being 10,000,000 quarters. Of this: quantity 8,000.000 quarters should form the perman ent stock to be purchased in course of three years, and thereafter one-third should be annually sold and replaced, so that after tho first three jears each lot of wheat would be stored for that period. The cost of the 10 granaries is estimated at £3,900,000, while the cost of 10,000,000 quarters of wheat, at 35s,' per quarter, amounts to £17,500,0005 Notwithstanding this...
