The Electric Age. [Newspaper Article] — Coleraine Albion and Western Advertiser — 20 April 1914

The Electric Age. No one knows what electricity i>, but everyone knows the great service.-, rendered by it to mankind. An artick by Dr. J. Add ti this the use of its power of resistant materials, wliioli £;i ves u? ekc tric light a«d heat, and its abiinj t.i travel for long distances either by conduction or radiation, which f?ives us the various telegraphic and tele phonic systems, and the tale is brief ly told.

Separator milk for calves. [Newspaper Article] — Coleraine Albion and Western Advertiser — 20 April 1914

Separator milk for calves. In viinv of the number of questions received from time to time o" the feed ing of i:alves on separated milk, the following notes on this important sub ject by Professor T. L. Haecker, of the Minnesota Agricultural College, may prove interest in<;. Professor liaeoker points out that iio has made calf-re;; ring bis business for over twenty years, and during the last iif tcrai vears lias placed his chief reliance on skim milk. For growing calves bo j considers separator milk at least equal to whole milk, though calves will not lay on so much fat as they will when whole milk is fed; hut they will mako as good growth, and be as thrifty on skim milk. There is nothing in butter- I fat that a calf can use in building body ] tissue. Uuttei-fat can lie converted ; into body heat and body fat, and nutri ment for this purpose can bo supplied more cheaply with flax meal, which contains 30 to 33 per cent. oil. His system of feeding is very uni form. When tho ...
