Efforts have. been made from time to time by local bodies to secure the formation of an administrative body to control the local foreshores as a separate undertaking, in order that they might be fully developed. Sand ringham, Hampton and Black Rock Progress Associations were the latest to move in regard to the-matter and the position was trenchantly ,placed before them by Mr. 0. 11. Snowball, M'L.A., who has had plenty of oppor tunity of becoming thoroughly seized with the position. He pointed out thatn the weakness of local municipal admninistration was want of funds, and those advocating a separate trust were also unable to devise means of providing funds. OAKLEIGII. SEWING CIRCLE ORGANISED. The ladies of Oakleigh assembled on Tlhursday to arrange for providing comfort for the troops. There was a large gathering, ' and Mr. W. Green wood, of St. John's A-ubulance spoke of the work of the organisation and the establishment of a lRed Cross So ciety.
