LATEST BRITISH EXTRACTS. The Ckimkan Aaur.— From returns just published it, appears that the total number of cavalry who j«»iued the army in the east amounted to ?J.sllj; of whom 33J were killed or wounded ; the royal artillery to 7,032, cf whom i woro killed or woundc I ; the sappers and miners to 203, of whom 1 40 were killed and wounded; and the total infantry to d.1,270, of whom 1S/J07 were killed or wounded. Thus the general total of all arms was 55,A3Q, and of these 1*1,031 wero killed or wounded. A separate rei.ur;i chows that up to the 1st of June, 1850, 2,7.35 officers and men (including 157 officers) t ere killed in the Crimea, and that 51/5 officers, 1:7 ii noil com missioned officers, and 10.7S2 men, wore .y;'ounded. Of tho wounded 8t- officers, 85 non-cominissioncd officers, and 1,818 men died ; while 1*17 officers, 571 noncom missioned officers, and LVJ20 men died from sickness, and 1,137 non-cotnmihsioned officers and 13,561 men wero invalided at the end of the war. 2...

Fine.— Oh Thursday morning Inst, botweeu tho hours | of two ami three o'clock, tho inhabitants in tho viciuitv j of the court houfM were alarmed hy the crios of 44 Fire,*' I and it was soon discovered that a grocer's shop, kept by I Mr. Kykes, was on firo, whilst Mr. S. (who, rt appears, resides in another part of the town) was at home and asleep. Mr. Aspinwull, the hairdresser, who rents part of the premis s, was awakoned by his daughter calling for a drink of water, and stating that site was almost flufi'ocated with smoke. It was soon discovered that tho ? fire was in Sykes* shop, ami Mr. William Reid, from tho Aurtndian Anns, sprang in and hurst the door open, and I found iho placo in flames.
