Recent Weddings in City and Country To secure insertion in the Sunday News reports of weddings must be sent in during the week in which they are celebrated. BROWN-WEBSTER A pre wedding was celebrated at     St. Saviour's Cathedral, Goulburn, on June 3, when Hilton Westley Brown, son of the late Mr. F. Brown and Mrs. A. S. Lansdowne, was married to Miss Nellie Webster, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Web- ster, of Gundaroo. Mr. Jack Dale was best man. and Miss Alice Lansdowne bridesmaid. The bride who was given away by her brother, Mr. A Webster.   wore a dainty dress of white crepe de- chine, with wreath and veil. The brides-   maid's hut. The future home of the young couple will be in Goulburn.

SOUVENIR HUNTING Characteristics of Australians When the debutantes tore down the decorations after the Peace Ball at the Sydney Town Hall all carried them off as souvenirs, they showed that they possess ed in a similar degree a trait of charac ter which was so markedly manifested in many of their brothers in the A.I.F. The Digger was a keen souvenir hunter, and any prisoner who passed through the Australians' lines was thoroughly "fanned" as they call it. No article was too paltry to take. Buttons, badges, and shoulder straps were cut off, and personal effects, such as photographs and letters, were readily pounced upon. When a position was taken they would work in parties ransacking every dug-out   and "possie" in search at articles left by the Huns. On one occasion on coming out from the Somme front an American officer of the Technical Corps, who was attached to a New South Wales battalion, noticing that almost every Digger was loaded with souvenirs, ranging from gaud...

DAVIS— APPLETON Canon Bellingham celebrated the marriage of Lieutenant Herbert Davis, A. S. C., only son of Mr. H. Davis, of Bulli and Miss Bessie M. Appleton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Appleton, of Lynd- hurst. Dulwich Hill, at St. Phillip's Church on June 3. The bride wore a veil of Limerick lace over orange blos- soms, with her trained gown of georgette and charmeuse, embroidered with crystal beads and pearls. The bridegroom's colors— 1st Battalion— tied her bridal bouquet. Miss Adele Fox, as chief bridesmaid, was attired in blush pink, relieved by touches of blue, while little Lily Appleton carried a dainty basket of flowers, with her childish frock of voile and lace. Lieutenant Mulford support- ed the bridegroom. The bride travelled   in a suit of biscuit cloth, with a white hat.
