Bowral Council. [Newspaper Article] — The Scrutineer and Berrima District Press — 7 December 1892

Biowral Council. The municipal council met for th© usual meeting oc Thursday evening, when the Mayor, and Aldermen Hodgson, Rice, Bissalser, Harrison, and Franklin put in an appearance. As usual a |storm arose over the adoption of the reports ; Alderman Rice objecting on tho grounds that the various reports had not been in four clear days. A discussion ensued, during which Alderman Franklin rose from his seat, grabbed his hat, and took a hasty departure from the council chambers, Alderman Eice followed suit, thereby leaving only four aldermen. Four Aldermen ,ho wever, could not form a quorum consequently tho Mayor had to adjourn the meeting with comparatively no business being done at all. To all appearances affairs in connection with the Bowral council are worse and worse and it is time the scenes and interruptions that have occurred of late were put a stop to. Aldermen are put into the council to work in the interest of the ratepayers, not to light or poke ' borax' at each other. ...

SSumllanoon. Our little town has onca more pr.t on its best appearance ; everything is looking well, grass plentiful, and horses and cattle in good condition. A large number of visitors has. put in an appearance, every boarding-house being full. The Tourist Hotel has a full complement of board9rs, and Fern Mount, the property of the same proprietor, is fairly well filled. Fernfie^d, Mrs. W. Grice's establishment, is full, several having been refused. The Mo'untain Home has changed proprietorship, Mr. Burgeso having given it over to Mrs. Bearnan, the owner having altered tho name to Hamburg House. We trust that under n-nv management it will flourish as in olden times.
