The MAYOB reported-thaV it would be remembered, that at last meeting of sttye Council a resolution was passed instroellj ing the Towq Clerk to write the Uomm^l sioner, and ascertain when the Goyern-; N roent intended to extend the Beelalod - reticulation system into Kadina, as their water supply was fast giving oat. The matter being of such grave importance be had taken it upon himself to "write"the * Commissioner, urging Uim to extend tbe Beetaloo main from its present terminus -Thomas* Plains Road, into KadiBj. The- - distance being onlyjbetween three and four miles be did not think it would take long to extend tbe pipes into Eadina. CRICKET. ADELAIDE AND SUBURBAN ASSOCIATION v. WALLAROO. The second of the Beries of matches arauged by the Y.P. Cricketing Associa tion was played at Wallaroo on Wednes day the 26th December, and ended in a win by one innings and 88 mas. The Wallaroos, who were.'imnus tbe services of Donnell and H^scock, and in the first innings batted with only 10 men, made but a poor show, the total being 36-the highest scorers being Sullivan 8 (not out), and Jones 8- The bowliug was good, and each bowler succeeded in taking the same number of wickets. The visitors in going to the wickets made a much better stand, and when an adjournment was made to Cropley* s to a luncheon provided by the Wallaroo Cricket Club, the score stood at 38 for three wickets. Only two rnns were added after iuuch when two wickets fell. Then Thomas and Gould made a stand which added 18 to the total. The above event came off on New Tear's Day. in ^ipj?tanpritjr of places it has been-^11 ad that no movement, such as ao annual regattaor annual races, has been $arrjed-pn with permanent success unless by a property consitnted club. However, the Xorke s Peninsula annual regatta is the exception which proves that rule. The first regatta was held ia 1866 (Queen's Birthday), and although the date was subsequently changed, every year has found an energetic committee at work, and a programme presented which has caused keen competition, and likewise brought together the largest gathering of spectators that ^ias graced any public movement.
