At an adjourned meeting of the Common Council, on Thursday night, that body pasted a bill providing for a topo graphical survey' of the city. It also passed a bill for ' the commencement ol a eygtem of street formation and graduation, looking to permanence and durability. This movement contemplates thi forming of the road-bed of the streets of Wroken limestone, to be covered with screened gravel. The Street Committee, in conjunction with the Mayor and Civil En gineer, were instructed to proceed to investi gate the most proper mode of bringing the gravel to the city and the cost and character of the machinery necessary for the purpose. The matter of erecting a school building on the lt generously donated for the purpose by our public spirited fellow-citizen M. M. Howard, was lso brought to the attention of the Board.
