Xotes andSuggcstlous for July. Frooi the Western Rural. Generally the reports that reach us of the condition of the grasses and grains throughout the West and Northwest-are very favorable. The hay crop will un doubtedly be very large. Wheat is injured in sotne localities by rust, and in other places a less breadth of land was sown to this grain than is utual'y the case. The cold, wet weather of the Spring mouths seriously interfered with corn planting, and with the sowing of the spring graius. jut in the Aggregate, we believe there will be a bountiful harvest. Usually farmers need no incentives to labor in th. harvest field ; rather it is nec essary to caution thera against over-work. This caution U especially applicable lo the young. Kvery harvcsr, many boys and young men arc seriously injured by the excessive labor performed in the harvest field. The practice of giving inferior o,r worn-out tools to the boys and then expect ing them to do nearly cr quite as much as lull grown men,...

A.0IG AD LAl'GUABLG ACCIDENT. A Young Lady Falls Tlirotigli a ÖHSTS3'. From the Louisville Courier, July 23. One of those annoying, jet ludicrous ac cidents, which will happen in the best of families, occurred on Sundry not over a thousand miles from this city. A dry Ooda clerk had an encasement to take his love out buggy riding. Early in the morning he appeared before her father's door with one of these spider-like vehi cles which are probably constructed with a view of ascertaining how light a buggy can be made, and at the same time be ser viceable. The lady is sweet sixteen, beautiful, and just a little bit of what is termed 'fast." She is full of life, fun and frolic, and is decidedly embonpoint, weighing about 140 pounds. As the young gcutle mm drove up, his lady love was standing on the top step at the front door with her venerable father, who had his gold specs elevated on his forehead, in order to get a distant view of his future son-in-law. Adonis jumped out of the buggy, p...

l j- THE MOUTH DEMOCRAT. .r. (;.osroiic S. ff,. Il iRVUY, Editors. PLVnOIJTII, IXDIAA: THURSDAY, AUGUST 8, 18G7. Hovr to ray it. How to pay the national debt is a prob lem that is beginuing to attract considera ble attention. A proposition made by a correspondent ct the Cincinnati Enquirer that the debt be paid at once in legal ten der notes, olios greenbacks, seems to meet with some favor both in llepublican and Democratic circles. It is urged in behalf of this hnasure tbat it would at once re lieve the people from the .heavy burdeus of tasatiou to which they are now subject, make money plenty and thus restore the financial prosperity of the country. On the other baud it is objected that to do this, would be an act cf bad faith toward the bondholders, who relied on the prom ise of the Government to pay the interest and the principal of at least a portion of the bonds in gold. Wc can not see the force of this objection. Previous to the issue of legal tenders thousands of citizens en...

Rising or llic Democratic Tide. The Democratic tide is rising, east, west, north aod south. A Cincinnati correspon dent of the Boston Post sends the follow ing gratifying intelligence from that quar ter. He says : "The Democracy has gained strength in the State ever since the election which has showed such a gratifying gain. It has leen, in the Legislature, ou the right side of the question in every case, which has agitated that body. Common sense, liber- 1 ity and souud principles have guided the members, and when these have not carried the day it has been because of lack of such qualities on the llepublican side. Throughout the State, so far as I have been able to gather, there, is a growing sentiment in favor of Democracy.
