A Now York Times special from Au gusta, Gn,, says tho death o an old man named Harbor in Hancock county has proven quite a windfall to the state, since all the property ho left, amount ing to $150,000, will be covered into the state treasury. Under the laws o this state, the prop erty of a person intestate without any known heirs, escheats to the state. This case in point is ono behind which there is a peculiar story, if it could ever be fathomed. In 1830 there appeared in Hancock county n man named Barber, who lived to himself, was non-communi-cative, and never by word or action gave nny indication as to his previous record or connection, beyond acknowledging that he had been born in the state of New York.
