ST WORK WAS f*5 Forger Who Attempted to Pass Bogus Checks Ar rested Last Night. WAIVED EXAMINATION AND HELD TO GRAND JURY. Printed Entire Check by Hand and Forged Three Names Home Near Bagley. The second forger to bear rested in Bemidji within the past two months was taken in at the Tyson establishment west of the city last night by Officer Helmer. He was taken to police head quarters, where a search of his person revealed 19 bogus checks on the Crookston Lumber com pany for amounts ranging from $20 to $22.50. He was arraigned in justice court this afternoon, waived preliminary examination and was bound over to the fall term of district court by Judge Pendergast. He gave his name as,John D. Miller and is appar ently ab 19 years of age. He claims thit his home is four miles east of Bagley, where his parents live, and that he has been working in a lumber camp near Kelliher during the past wint'-r. It was reported this morning that Alderman Bowser intended to resign as a member of the city council because of the many difficulties that have, beset the members during their service since March 14 last. Mr. Bow ser was asked this morning con cerning the affair and stated to the Pioneer that there was no such intention in his mind and that under present conditions he would "stick" to the finish. It is said that there is an effort be ing made to bring grief to Mr. Bowser in the hope of securing his retirement from the council, but he states that under no cir cumstance would he resign until he has served the term to which he was elected. j**n ROBBERY* AT LBNG Store ot Saterstrom & Lindh i Entered Last Night by Unknown Thieves. SECURED $150 IN CASH MAD E GETAWAY. AN Lengbr Men Suspected of Having Hand in AffairSearch Warrants Out. The general store of Sater strom & Lindh at Lengby,a small station on the Great Northern east of Crookston, was entered last night and robbed of $150 in cash. Entrance was made through the front door. The safe was left unlocked, so that all the robbers had to do was to break open the inside drawers A num ber of Erskine men are suspect ed of having a hand the affair, and search warrants are out. This makes at least a dozen robberies that have occurred in northern Minnesota during the past year. Erskine, Wilton,Leng by and other small towns along the line of the Great Northern between Bemidji and Ciookston have all been visited, and in some cases the robbers have been so bold as to blow up the postoffice safes.
