TEXAS 78957 LAGRANGE — Smith* ville put a damper on the I aGrange homecoming Friday, tieing the Leop- ards7-7 in a defensive struggle between the two 25AAteams. LaGrange had a chance to win the contest in the final seconds, but had one field goal called back by offsetting penal- ties, then missed on the second attempt. The Leopards jumped to a 7-0 lead with 1:54 in the second quarter Trlicek went 11 yards for a touchdown. Donnie Bertsch kicked the extra point. PAGE 3 ELGIN — The Elgin Wildcats celebrated homecoming and finished their 1978 football season on a high note Friday, smashing Texas School for the Deaf 48-0. Senior running back Elroy Falke closed out his high school career with four touchdowns and 224 yards rushing against the undermanned Rangers. The victory lifted Elgin to a 5-4-1 season record and a 4-2 mark in 25AA action, which will probab- ly be good for third place in the district. TSD is now 0-.S and 0-9.
