I tf p Sf i INDIGNATION IS VERY GREAT Pleasant Ridge School Disaster Causes Serious Threats Cincinnati Sept 26 The falUns of the floor of an outhouse on the school grounds at Pleasant Ridge about seven miles from here whereby a num- ber of school girls were precipitated Into a vault containing four feet of water and filth and resulting In the death of nine by suffocation has re- sulted in mingled sorrow and Indig- nation Many persons openly charge the catastrophe to official negligence and serious threats particularly by women have been made All the vic- tims were from the primary grades The girls fell eight feet from the flooring before striking the filth and the struggles of those who wcie on top kept at least nine underneath until they were dead Janitor Smith stated he told the trustees the floors of the ouhouses were unsafe This particular vault Is twelve feet deep and walled up with stone like a well In the frame sheds over these vaults are about twenty feet square windows and ...
