HOMESTEAD SELECTORS' SUBSTITUTES. [Newspaper Article] — Jerilderie Herald and Urana Advertiser — 28 October 1898

HOMESTEAD SELECTORS' SUB STITUTES. On the 20th inst. two applications were made to the Board to approve of persons proposed as substitutes for deceased home stead selectors in the performance of the residence conditions. As thpse were the first cases of the kind to como before the Wagga Board, it may be interesting to note tliot tho representatives of the late home stead selectors were in each case required to prove that probate of will or letters of administration had been granted. As the I Board enquired into the age of each of the nominees, and into the quantity of land held by him, it must be inferred that only ?hose who are themselves eligible to apply for homestead selections will bo approved.

Land Appeal Court. A QUESTION OF RESIDENCE. [Newspaper Article] — Jerilderie Herald and Urana Advertiser — 28 October 1898

Land Appeal Court. A QUESTION OF RESIDENCE, . The Board at Wagga on the 18th instant gave its reserved decision in the case of Frangott Altmann, dismissing the complaint :Of George Bardwel), on the ground that he had no interest in the subject land. The Board then dealt with an application for suspension of residence lodged by Altmann. The Chairman said he had made up his mind that such an application could not be granted if made after the breach had com menced, as was the case hare. The other members of the Board not being sure on the point retired to confer, and : on returning said they would prefer a longer time for further consultation. After the mid-day adjournment it was announced that ? the application would bo granted.' It appears the 21th section of the Act of 1889 is silent ns to when the application must be mnrle. As it gives illness and drought, inter alia, ns rrnsotis for granting suspension of condi tions, it would seem difficult to believe that the application may not...
