BULLI AND WOONONA [Newspaper Article] — South Coast Times and Wollongong Argus — 30 April 1915

BULLI AND WOONONA Motor and ordinary traffic had a : trying- time at the end of last, and I the early part of this Week, at the j road deviation work, Coledale. Very . early on Sunday morning horses were requisitioned from Coledale to haul a couple of cars out of the bocr into which the main road had been turned. Other Sydney bound cars got into difficulties during the day. A temporary 'deviation had Deen ieit oy wie woriviucn an onwu day, but this was Imperceptible, as there was no notic© of 'danger or other sign to direct the traffic. It was not long, before the side track wos' as Perilous to negotiate as the main roa-dl on account of the heavy traffic always in evidence on Sunday^. ! Owing to the necessity of every copper being required for Belgian and other needs, it h,as been decided that Empire Bay will not be celebrated as in times of yore. Dr. C. R. Palmer, in response to an invitation from the military au thorities, has accepted service with the military forces, ari&amp...

Co-operative Societies ? (To the Editor.) Sir,— During the past few weeks | there has been much written ? in the j newspapers concerning the above sub ject that has been very confusing to 1 the readers, and nothing of a prac- i tical, definite and universal solution ? to thei ever harassing problem of how to destroy, trusts and ring^s in 'the business market, whether beef, 'pro duce or of the many other commodi ties. Well, Sii'I in my humfoie way, I wish to try and show that at least one class oi co-operation has lai.l down the deeds that are fast devel oping to maturity that will. , in the future, make it an absolute impossi bility for trusts and combiner to ex ist or even think about it. Now, let me take the readers, ( in thought, back ta the early 'Fifties in Great Britain, and there they would lino that the factory and mine owners owned the workmen's dwellings, ho tels, and the stores, also th? work man was bound for twelve months, and had to sign on for that rerio l.
