The Fire at Balmain. The Balmain Saw Mills, which were destroyed by fire on Monday night, were leased by Messrs. Taylor, Katterel, and Priddy, who traded under the name of J. Booth arid Co. The fire broke out in the engine room ; and had the man who first observed it turned the cock in a pipe which was connected with large tanks overhead containing 800 gallons of water, that quantity of water could have been made available, for hose was always kept in readiness, and the mill would have beeu saved from destruction.
