HOCK, N.S.W. On Monday an inpectinon of the White hock i'roprietary ICompanv's silver property situated some three miles from Fairtlied, near Tenterfield, was made by a paty ntIlmering about 30 persons, chiefly f,'mn Sy:ldner. The slti;late of silver lode, which i exposedl to surface over a remark ably large area, was relirftly examined. ilnd samples of ore selected fro?t every portion if the lode for assay. Mr. G. L. Matheson stated that 93 assavs had heen taken front every foot f 'the lotde exposed the face of which is iupw'ards of 600 ft.t. The averago of all was IS5 tz, of silver to the ton. The lode had been traced ta great distance in ditfferent direc'tions, nil Mir. Cox, of Cox and Crauter. mining eilgineers, reported tha: already 1.000.000 tons of ore was in sight. THiIE HIAZELWOOD COAL YMINE, To-n.tY a number of gentlemen interested in the Hazelwood Coal Mine, accom planied by mining experts, .intend to make it visit of inspeeti on. This will be done with a view of determining the precise action to be taken to proceed with mining operations, arid profitably open tup the mine. The general opinion is, that sufficient work has not been done to prove the capability of the mine to produce coal profitably. The coal is of proved goodil quality, and the seams are of sufficient thickness to warrant the belief, that judicious and well-di rected labor will be successful in estab lishing the ine mie a profitable venture.
