THE North-eastern Ensign Published on Tuesdays and Fridays. TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 4, 1873. [Newspaper Article] — The North Eastern Ensign — 4 February 1873

STHE SPulished on Tuesdays and Friday:. S TUESDAY, .FEBRUAIY 4, 1873. Po Ic man must be aware that their moilves will be scrutinised by the world upon just and reasonable -prinoinles, It is useless to cry peace where there is no peace, and it is equally useless for any man to endeavour to.cgrry, out' privateanimosity under the cloak" of public -duty. When a man is proceeding bond.fide there are certain concomitant circumstances which attend .honestaction. The proceedings of Mr.Soriarm, 'the` President ' of the Shire Council of:Bonalla, in respect to this journal and tho'adrcrtieing and printing-in connection with the Coimnil, gave abundant evidence of an attempt to pub what perhaps may be deemed tha extioguisher uiipon a journal . iunder the cover of a most delicate re"ard for the rate payerts pockets Now, in viewing this matter we are not inclined to dispute the propositioi that a reasonable economy in tle' expenditure of the shire money is:to be. commended, but then when .a line "o...
