GARDEN AND FIELD CALENDAR FOR OCTOBER. [Newspaper Article] — Werriwa Times and Goulburn District News — 16 October 1901

GARDEN AND FIELD CALENDAR FOR OCTOBER. By A, Lansdqwne, Seedsman, Goulburn. Tin- land is in good order for cropping and large sowings of all seasonable crops must at once be sown to provide abundant winter feed. Xo dairy or farm can prosper without plenty of food in winter. Mangels should be largely sown ; they give immense yields, can be stored for the winter, and are grand for sheep, cattle, horses, poultry, and pigs. Grass seed, lucerne, millets, fix., should not be neglected. Maize is good for green feed or en silage and carrots are a good field crop. We will have wanner weather, but frosts are still likely about middle of month, and good rains in the latter part. The scasoii is likely to bu very stormy and thundery, and all stacks, sheds, &c., sliouldibe made secure. K1TCIIEX GAliDEN.
