M. Pasteur. [Newspaper Article] — Table Talk — 7 May 1886

M. Pasteur. Pastbtjh, the lion of the day in Paris, is, like Mf, Grdvy, a Franche-Ooratolse, Ho lins tho intonation in speaking of the President of tho Republic—that is to say ha drawls slightly, and emphasisos strongly the loading word in eaoh sentence. There is an indolence in the walk which arisos from an incompletoly-ourad attaok of hemiplegia, from which some years ago ho was dangerously ill. He manages not to limp, although he has,to drag the left log, whioh is not of so much use to him as a cork one set on an active thigh. The eyes of yellowish brown, with less brown than yellow of a topaz hue, are set in bistrous lids, and appear too much fatigued to soo without first being well rubbed. There are vertical wrinkles in the brow and qu oer crow's-feet about tho temple. Oonoentratlng attention through a microscope on the infinitely small animaloular world has produced them, Pasteur's countenance betokens originality, and the whole man shows sturdy strength and grit. He must be k...
