THE BURNING OF ST MARY'S CATHEDRAL. [Newspaper Article] — The Gundagai Times and Tumut, Adelong and Murrumbidgee District Advertiser — 9 January 1869

THE BUKN/NG OF ST MARY'S CATHEDRAL. The metropolitan papers confirm the sad news of the utter destruction by fire of St. Mary's temporary Cathedral, which our brief telegram on Tuesday announced. The first alarm of the fire was raised at a quarter-past 3 o'clock, on Tuesday morning, when a buy, named Patrick O'Rourke — who was sleeping in a room behind the sacristy, at tho south-eastern extremity of the Church — was awoke bv a loud crackling noise.
