WATERTOWN. —The Waltham daily which printed the article abdut the trouble in the Phillips Congregational Church in this town, ought either to have avoided all mention of it. or else stated the truth. It would lie hard to crowd so many misstatements in a short article, two of which, at least, ought to be corrected, especially in Cambridge, where Mr. Wilson is well known, having formerly lieen a memlier of the Prospect Street Congregational Church. Misstatement I: —"One of the church deacons won't darken the doors of his house of worship under the present pastorate." The fact is, nil the deacons are iv their pews every Sunday. Misstatement 2:—"A iietition has lieen'circulated, asking point blank for the pastor's resignation." On the contrary, a petition is being circulated for his retention. The opposition to Mr. Wilson has assumed prominence in this way: A year ago a new bylaw was adopted, providing that hereafter the pastor's salary should lie voted by ballot.
