JTtoerly all of the new houses nn the Brewster estate, on Brattle street and Rledesel avenue, are well under way. '1 be alterations on the old Rledesel house have been fully desciibed, and painters are now at work on the Interior of the building. The house being elected by Mr. Brewster for Mr. Charles Almy. Jr., which has also been described In The Tribune, is progressing well. This house will contain large accommodations and when finished will present a very fine appearance. On the former site of the Rledesel house, the foundations are being laid for a new house, which Mr. Brewster intends to occupy himself. It will be of large dimensions, of brick and wood, three stories and a half high, and Sromlnently situated near the corner of irattle and Sparks streets. Cambridge Lodges. Central Hall. This new hall, which is located in Holmes's block, Central square, was a short lime ago leased to Messrs. Herbert A. Rhoades, Walworth O. Barbour, Francis A. White and Elbridge G. Stevens, for a term of years. It Is si uated on the third floor of the new building recently erected by Deacon J. A. Holmes, is 51 feet deep, 37 feet wide and 15 feet high. Upon securing tbe lease of tbe hall, work was at once begun to fit it up in proper shape, and, as a result, a very handsome society hall has now been completed. The frescoing has been very tastefully executed by Wallburg & Woehrn ot Boston. The furniture is of a rich, dark cherry and is upholstered with old gold sultan plush, and was furnished by A. B. &E. L. Shaw of Boston. Tbe carpets are the best of Roxbury tapestry, of very neat design, and arefput down by means of hooks, and can be removed on short notice, leaving an excellent floor for dancing.
