It is too often the case that as soon as the flooks are put on pasture, they are neg looted until brought to winter quarters again. Thefloofc-masterboth in sum mer and winter should see his sheep two or three times a week at least, and know that the shepherd bestows upon them the proper attention. If not done at sheering time, selec tions for the coming breeding season should be made at onoe. If this be done at, or soon after, the time the an imal is clipped, abetter opportunity is given to study their anatomy, see alland the imperfeotions of form, and seleet the most desirable ewes of the flock. There is another and most important advantage in culling at this season it is known what ewes have proved good mothers and have raised strong, healthy lambs. It matters not how dark tho night is, the wool continues to grow, and it mat ters not how the wind blows or how it may storm, gestation is never longer than 150 days. The lambs will aver age one-half females, and often twins, and they breed the next year, making doable compound—a perpetual growth and no loss. Everything that does not go into market goes back to enrich the pasture aad thongh the landlord may be sick it does not atop the growth of the lambs. Not so with other business. The Minnesota Farmer's Union ad* vises the farmers of Minnesota to soil their wheat as soon as possible, which is certainly good advice, if by "pos sible" is meant at satisfactory prices. The Wisconsin Western Farmer, com menting thereon, is not prepared to give so positive advice, but belioves thus: The farmer who makes it a praotioe to sell all his eropa as soon as they are ready for the market, as a general rule, do as well in along series of years, as he who holds his crops on speculation.
