Writing under date of May 2d, of a review held in St. Petersburg in honor of the visit of the Emperor of Germany to the Czar, a correspondent of the Lon don Daily News says : Tha great attraction of tho day was the cavalry, and that for surpassed any thing which I have ever seen. The two elements of excellence were, of course, the horses themselves and the horse manship of the riders. Can any body explain the peculiar charm about Rus sian horses ? Without presuming to an swer my own question, I think I may point out that one secret with trainers liero seems to educate the horse ; to make him trustworthy, faithful, ambi tions ; and to dispose of all those con trivances which, in more civilized coun tries, crush the epirit out of tho poor beasts.
