William A Hoffman , a young farm hand , living -near Marystown , 111. , called his fath er-in-law , Dr , William Brandt , to the door of his house and shot Jiim to death. Then he rode back to his home , told his wife that "he had killed the old hound , her father" , gave ht - two dollars which he eaid he wanted her to spend on the christen- ingf of their baby , kissed her and their lour children and rodejnto the woods.
