C. A., here Wednesday, after a crowded three-day session, which members described as one of the most inter- esting yet held. Representatives of IB of the largest Negro educa- tional institutions in the country attended the gathering, which was held simultaneously with that of the Association of Land-Grant Col- leges and Universities, which met at the Stevens Hotel downtown. The latter organization, composed of the white state universities of the south and the state universities of the northern states, has thus far failed to grant membership to the colored schools of similar status, although it permits the presidents of the Negro institutions to attend ita sessions in the role of visitors. He came here in the interest of se- lecting prospective students for the University and of visiting the Fisk Alumni. Mr. Allison is a graduate of Fisk University, stud- led in Harvard and Yale and before coming to Fisk five years ago was director of a Community House in Hartford, Connecticut. Under his direction Fisk Alumni have be- come better organized than at any time in their history. Fisk clubs are flourishing in all parts of the country and they are taking an ac- tive part in the constructive direc- tion of the University program and its support. Reports have it that the mem- bers of the Republican National Committee adjourned their meet- ins very gleefully in Washington on Wednesday, went over to the White House and assured President Hoover, that they would return him to office in 1932. One thing is certain, the Republicans will find they have undertaken a man's job. Already John R« Hawkins, act- ing for Republicanism has sent to the Negro Press long releases, at- tempting to extol the many vir- tue! of hia party, but in most in- stances, this advance "dope" has met with anything but a warm re- ception.
