Gaming Proseoutions. At the local court on Thursday last (before Mr L,on(> field, P.M., Sergt. Byrne proceeded against Rupert Russell for killing a wild duck in close season. Mr Whitty appeared for the de fendant, who pleaded not guilty; but the plea was altered to guilty after hearing the Sergeant's evi dence. Fined £1, with 6/ costs. Albert Rollins pleaded not guilty to a charge of having four wild duck in his possession. Mr Whitty appeared for defendant, and Sergt. Byrne prosecuted. . George Dickie swore that he saw dofendant with four black ducks in his possession on the Barooga re serve on Dec. 26. Defendant de nied this in evidence, stating jthat he was carrying two shags . and three water hens, but did not make any use of them. Witness Russell agreed with defendant', excepting that they ate the water hens, which proved good eating. Fined £2, with',8/ costs.' '
