Tallest "Skyscraper" in the World. The Singer Manufacturing Company filed plans yesterday (says tlio "New York Times" of February 22) for a structure to stand in Broadway, New York, which will be higher than nil oxiating skyscrapers by from 200ft to 800ft, and will ba about 40ft :Ligher than tho Washington Monumont. The tower will bo Go ft. square for 80 6torios, ■and will be surmounted by a doma contain ing four additional storios, above which will ba a cupola and—if that isn't high enough— a flagstaff. The facades of the tower will fee of ornamental briok and limestone, with four rows of windows on each side. It will contain mora than 1 CO,000 square feet of floor space, iind will be fitted with a group of four elevators. Borings have been taken over the area to be covered by the tower, and it has been found that there will be no difficulty in reaching a sufficiently firm foundation oil bedrock to carry the onormous weight.
