Charters Towers Committee. [Newspaper Article] — The Northern Miner — 10 July 1875

Charters Towers Com- mittee. A meeting of the Charters Towers Committee was held on Wednesday night week at Hargreaves Present — Messrs Hubert (chairman), Cusack, Mills, Nigre, Moses, Ross, H. Barnett, O'Kanee Davie, and Malcolm. The minutes of the pre- ceding meeting were read and confirmed. The Secretary reported he had forwarded a telegram on the 15th ultimo to the Minister for Works, requesting that the road party should he ordered to cut down the Gap 10 or 12 feet, and that the work could be done for £50. The names of Mr R. T. Jamison and Mr E. Embledon were added to   the list of Committee. The Chairman said the first business on the paper was the improvement of the roads and streets. Their efforts had already produced good results, for the road party had been instructed to metal the road where it was most required be- tween the Towers and Millchester. Mr O'Kane suggested that the telegram already sent should be supplemented by a special letter to the Minister for...
