A CHAMPION PACKER. On-fnrd 'Times' discloses how Ray Moore won a £50 wager that he could not pack 300 cases of oranges in 10 hours. It is coming to be recosTiised ? though why the process of enlighten ment should be gradual it is hard !o say — that the people generally are In-* forested narties In strii-pa -.=n^i!.!i^ those in which public utilities are con perned. In Hip State of Kansas an In dustrial law provides for the recogni tion of the people, as 'the party ot tlie' third part.' A cable messagp'now states Hint the American Secretary ?-.«' Labour is seeking permission from the Congress to establish a permanent Fed civil Commission, whose duty it will !;-.? to inform the nation upon the points in dispute whenever a. strike, pre sumably of nation-wide dimensions, oc curs. Commenting on these dnvelon mpnls Ihe Melbourne 'Argus' says: 'If r-iblir opinion could be organised in Urn same way In Australia there would lie little fear of a repetition of the !-igh-!mn-Ied conduct of the Newcastle union 'bosses' and of the officials of the seamen's union.
