THE arrival of a shipload of immigrants in this       district, would be indeed a great boon. Labour is very much in request for up-country employ-   -ments, and 200 or 300 immigrants would be speedily taken up by our settlers. But the question is, When are they coming? and, that point settled   What about the barracks and other requisite     conveniences for their reception and disposal?     There are questions demanding prompt and   attentive consideration at the hands     of all parties concerned; and it is much to be regretted the the Yeppoon Yeppen dispute was mixed up with it at the meeting on Monday evening. If these questions are worth anything, they each deserve a special meeting for their   consideration, neither can justice be done to them when bought forward       &a...

THE YEPPEN YEPPEN LAGOON.   Some eighteen months or two years ago, the   attention of the people of Rockhampton was     called to the circumstance that the water reserve in front of Mr. Wiseman's land was                    being fenced in, and on further inquiry it     was found that a resurvey had taken place     under the direction of the Surveyor-General,         Mr. Gregory. A public meeting was con - vened at the Bush Inn, and as the result of     that meeting, a memorial unanamously signed was sent to His Excellency Sir G. F. Bowen   remonstrating against the alienation of the   reserve in question. No notice was taken of   this memorial.
