A STRIKING LIKENESS. A cattle dealer arrived in Paris the other day with the intention of havin. his portrait painted in oils. He ap plied to an artist near the Madeleine. and in .concludin the. bargain dealt strongly ~ on his: wish that tha lilrenes should he, striking. and unmi.-takahle. The painter promised that it should he so. " Indeed," he added, ' I will appeal to the most disinterested judge possil le to your own bulldogo .we will show him the picture, and see whether 'he recognlises you." HEALESVILLE BAILND OF HOP. The annual meeting of the Band of 'Hope was held on Saturday evening last. The attendance was.very "small the President, Rev. F.
