Science. A Wonderful Boy. [Newspaper Article] — Morwell Advertiser and Weekly Chronicle — 19 February 1887

A Wonderful Boy. Your correspondent to-day visited the home of Presley Forrest, son of aurr Forrest, nine miles from this place, who, within the past two months, has developed such extraordin ary spiritual manifestations and wonderful sight seeing phenomena, which have created the greatest sensation and astonishment among those of spiritualistic belief, and among the entire neichborhood of that sec tion. toe people flocking for miles to see. hear, and witness his talk and performances while under the influence of what is com ntonly known as spirit control. The young man belongs to one of the most respected families in Rutland Township, is twenty eight years old, slender build. and is an in valid and deformed, being crippled in both hands and feet from his birth; is very quiet inoffensive and non.-communicative, except when in n trance, at which time he converses with the spirits of well known deceased per sons, often strangers to himself, speaking to them in the language and charact...

Sketcher. The Sancy Diamond. [Newspaper Article] — Morwell Advertiser and Weekly Chronicle — 19 February 1887

The San:cy Diamond. One of the best known diamonds in Europe down to the close of the last century was the famous Sancy. As is the case with all prominent gems of this species, many legends some of a pleaanat, some of a painful charac ter, are connected with it. One legend of the Saner is thus narrated : The beautiful diamond inventoried as the Sancy, and of the weight of 33 12-16 carats, and valued at 1,000,000 francs, was stolen and never recovered. This gem has been as sociated with the fortunes of the redoutable Blurgundian warrior, Charles the bold; and its history has done more to perpetuate his name than the record of all his misdeeds and his desperate battles. To prove, however, that this is the identical rem lost by the Swiss will be a dillicult task, for the anti quaries have unearthed more Sancydiamonds than there were lihebmonds in the field. The name of Sancy has, indeed, become famous by embracing in one story the fortunes of thlree distinct gemts. The erudite King has...
