The Farmers' Forum [Newspaper Article] — Farmers Voice — 15 January 1898
The Farmers Forum The Farmers Forum invites communications all on ¦ objects from whatever point of view , the editor of THI VOICE assuming no responsibility whateverfor the Ideal expressed No communication should exceed S 00 words in leagtb . Are Courts Infallible ? To the Editor—The . attempt to establish the supremacy of the courts in our form of government is one of the most startling attacks upon liberty that could be imagined . I am amazed that it passes almost without challenge . Once in our . history have the people rushed to arms , and at a terrible cost of life and treasure reversed the Supreme Court of the United States . Yet the peril lurking in this heresy was not perceived , and • we are now once more in the rapids , moving steadily toward the verge of the abyss . OUR WEEKLY REVIEW [Newspaper Article] — Farmers Voice — 15 January 1898
OUR WEEKLY REVIEW Receipts To-Day , 9 , 000 Cattle , 27 ,. 000 Hogs , 12 , 000 Sheep Cattle Market Steady Hog Market Strong to 5 c Higher Sheep Market Steady CATTLE Thursday , Jan . 15 , 1898 . The receipts of cattle up to the present time this week show a falling off from last week , being about 42 , 000 , against 43 , 540 for the same time last week . Last week s total was 47 , 448 , against 49 , 991 £ ov the corresponding week in 1897 and 56 , 769 in 1886 . Owing to the moderate supply we have had a very steady and satisfactory trade since our last report . Friday , with 3 , 702 , the trade was steady except on the common kind , which were a shade lower . Monday we had a somewhat larger run than the preceding week , the official count being 19 , 048 . Although the market across the water has been very bad for the last week , the export space has to be filled and the export orders have to be executed in time for the boats . The market on that grade , therefore , ruled steady on Mo...
