The Court of Appeals recently decided that a city has no right whatever to ex empt a hotel from taxation ; that nothing is entitled to Buch exemption, excepting on proofs of ils public purpose and pub lic services only. The decision was rendered in the case of Lancaster against Clayton, taken up from Georgetown. Lancaster was solic ited to erect a hotel there about four years ago.
