A Plitckr Vermont Iloj-, About fifteen years ago n young man barely out of his teens, stepped off t':o train on the Cleveland and Toledo (now Lake Shore,) railroad at Obcrlln, Oldo, carpet bag in band, and Inquired for the nearest hotel. Ho was directed to Chauncy Wnck's famous house, not far from the depot, and at once proceeded thither and engaged a room. Our hero registered at Wack's Innocently enough, and then started up town to pros pect, llclng tho son of a clergyman In Ver mont, and having but a few shillings In his pockot, he naturally sought out tho good citizens of Obcrlln In Ms quest of employ ment. At first they lent n ready car to his story, and inquired Into particulars, but ns soon as they learned Unit ho was stopping at Wack's they lied dismayed.
