Sketch of a Regiment on a March. The life of a soldier on service, tako all things together, is the finest in tho world. While ho moves on, a roving adventurer, care, pain and troubles aro banished from his mind; and though he is at times on short commons, and often driven to his w its' end, ho but seldom repines. His sufferings give him a greater relish for the .enjoyment of uny good thing that may ho forthcoming, or any windfall that fortune may throw in his way, Onco fai.ly on tho road, it is as. tonisliing how rapidly tho hours glide away. The formalities of parade or drill marching nro now at an end, and every one indulges in that rnodo of perambulation which best suits him. When tho commanding officer is not ono of your strict disciplinarians, tho regimental juniors congregate together in groups, somo in front, some in rear ; while tho men, though keeping their sec tions, travel in open ranks, hilling tho entire ppaco of ground over which tho route ex tends.
