From the Indianapolis Journal. Early Indiana Trials. EEMIJi'ISCEii'CES BV HON. 0. II. SMITH. Among the first of the great tragic trials in this State, was that of Dr. John Brad burn, of Fayette county, on an indictment for murder. I was at that time County Prosecutor for the State. The facts of the casft were briefly these: Dr. Bradburn was an eminent Surgeon, a man ef great muscular power and of the most indomita ble personal courage. I have scarcely ever seen a more athletic man, and I never knew a man of greater bravery. Hj lived some four or five miles from Connersville. In general the Doctor was highly respected, bnt it scorns that ha had given $01113 real or imaginary cause of offense to several young men of equal respectability in his noighbor hoad, who took it into their h?ads that they would take thi Doctor from his house in the night, ride him on a rail to the water and then duck him. Th? Doctor by some means got wind of what was going on, and prepared himself with weapons...
