WPub1mb.* s-, 4. P. MS. MONRos, LA., JAlic f7, lU". O. W. MORANIUI. Editor. How the Warmoth Coalition Works. "Argus," a correspondent of the New Orleans Bulletin, favors us with the following interesting developments : THE SENATORIAL CONTEBT Was the first game of the sesslon in which Gov. Warmoth took a hand. Upon its result devolved, in a great measure, the continuance of the almost unlimited power of his Excellency and undisputed sway over the people of this State. After naming his candidate for the United States Senate, Gen. J. R. West, the next move was to secure for him the vote of the Democratic members. So irreconcilably and equally divided was the Republican party, that the balance of power was completely in the hands of the Democrats, which, had they judiciously used it, would have completely annihilated Gov. Warmoth iu this State for all time to come. But the iduckmenrs held out by the cun ning and unscrupulous Governor, it seems, were too powerful for the sup pliant Democ...

MONROE, LA., JANUARY 27, 1871. New Orleans has already contributed over $60,000 to the French sufferers by the war, and this sum will,.in a few weeks, be increased to $100,0000. To hear of Yates trying to tack the name of Deity to the tail of the consti tutional kite inspires us with a respect for Dogberry that we never entertained before. It certainly were a shame that God should come after the XIVth and XVth Amendments. Dan Rice is humbugging the people of the Second District with his one horse show. Excelsior, Junior, a blind horse, and Dan are the principal attrac tions, Excelsior drawing best, though not a draft horse. Apropos we have a little promissory note for $10 signed by Dan, which he.can call and pay. We will exempt him of the payment of in terest since "March 24, 1854."-N. O. Bu/tdin. If there is a sound Democratic party and policy wanted any where; it is in Louisiana. The so-called Democratic and Conservative party of that State is almost as rotten as the Radical party...
