Mr. McGrath made a state ment in regard to the Turner let1r and explanations were made by Messrs. Chase, Mc Tallin and Secretary French ' as to its publication. Resolutions were . adopted declaring the affair solely a characteristic attempt of politicians at Topeka and Washington to prove that moral laws have noplace in politics and a desire on their part to thwart the will of the people by any means, however base and, corrupt; that this is regarded as an other reason for standing together in earnest devotion to the cause, anl depre cating and condemning all efforts to foment personal antagonism or jealousy in the party, and holding the common cause more sacred than individual inter ests. In a recent sermon at Brooklyn Dr. Talmage appealed especially to non-chureh-goers, taking his text from John sx. 16: "Other sheep have I vhich are not of this fold." He said: There is no monopoly in religion. The tCTrace of (Jod is not a nice little property rfenced off all for ourselves. Angels are not far away from peo ple who are trying to please God. ' The devil's school is open night and day, and never has a vacation. The world is very small to people who live only to please themselves. It depends upon who says a sermon is good as to whether it; is or not. The only remedy for every earthly trouble is to be right with God. It is a good deal easier to please God than it is to please some people. A man who don't know much at home learns very fast when he travels. The man who waits on the Lord will always be well paid for his time.
