Pendleton does not propose to run any risk, by allowing his name to be placed in nomination for Governor of Ohio. Mr. Pend leton is ambitious to be President. He was defeated at his last attempt by a rule and he hopes at the nest .effort to defeat the rule. Fearing that his defeat for Governor will . materially injure his Presidential prospects, he wisely decline being a candidate for the Gubernatorial chair. SOLDIERS' HOME. The National Soldier's Home, at Dayton, is fast becoming one of the most interesting and attractive places in the Union. Recently the most eautiful Library room in Ohio, has been opened. The building is used as Headquarters and Library rooms, and the opening was dedicated on the 11th inst with impressive cere monies, and speeches by Gov. Den nison, Gen. Koyes, Lt. Gov. Fireside Department. Appreciating Children. A good minister once said, "I am very sensitive to the prayers of lit tle children. I could think of no greater puishment than to lose the love of little children." This is high -appreciation. But scarcely too high. If all Christian parents, and pastors, and Sunday-school peo ple could honestly adopt the senti ment, a millenium for the children would speedily dawn. Thoughts of Heaven. I am thinking to-night of my eter nal home;' of my dear elder brother who hath gone to prepare a mansion for me in that beautiful land. ".Eye hath not seen" that glorious home. The investigation of the official, returns in the City of Hartford Connecticut, shows most clearly the presence of frauds in the interest of the Democratic party. hue the ouici.il returns showed f70 votes to have been cast for .Tewcll for Gov ernor, there were only 47'J ballots in the los. Yet 520 Uepublicans testified to having voted for Jewell. This shows double fraud to have been practiced....
