Ike flailg Jkjijrcal. Rochester (N. Y.) Union of January 22d, gives the following account of the domestic troubles of a family in that city: " A few months since, u man named Squire Bowers, who resides in the town of Webster, where he has a wife and children, made the acquaintance of a respectable family in the Fourth ward. He passed by the name of Drake, and paid his attentions to a daughter of matu. e age, and contracted a marriage. The arrangements lor the expected union were so far made by the girl that she procured her wedding garment, and we believe that the day was tixed for the ceremony. Two or three days since, Bowers alias Drake, came in from the country, and was taken ill, or pretended to be, while at the house of the parents of the woman he had betrayed. He was kindly taken care of and nursed by the lady who expected to become his wife, aud remained there until yesterday, when he was unexpectedly exposed as a villain to the family who treated him so kindly. W HERE ABE You GOING ?—An anecdote is told of Finney, the revivalist, and a cabman to the following effect: He was holding forth in Rochester, and in walking along the canal one day. he came across a boatman, who was swearing furiously. Marching up, he confronted him, and rather abruptly asked: "Sir, do you know where you arr> going?" The innoecn'ly replied that he was going up the canal on the boat Jenny Sands. "No sir, you are not," said Finney. "You are going to hell faster than a canul boat can carry you." The boatman looked at him with astonishment, for a moment, and then returned the question: '•Sir, do you know where you are going?" "I expect to go to heaven." '•No, sir! you are going right into the canal!" And suiting the action to the word, he pounced upon poor Finney, and tossed him into the murky waters, where he would have drowned, had not the boatman repented and fished him out.
