Some discussion took placo ro arrears of water rate3 and Alderman Billington proposed " That summons notices be taken out for all rates in arrears as soon as possible." Seconded by Alderman Sspio and earned. Alderman Biilingtca drew attention to the fact that a number or persons allowed water to flow over the footpaths and the inspector of nuisances w is in structed re same. ACCOUNTS. One policeman was injuied, aud another fired his revolver through the roof to frighten the -kanakas, acci dentally bitting a kanaka who was hiding in the rafters. Eventually seventeen kanakas were arrested. One lost an eye through a blow from a glass bottle thrown by another kanaka.
